His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo has said that, government is satisfy that, it is now safe to reopen schools this month.
He made this statement on His 21st address on the coronavirus pandemic on sunday 3rd January 2021. President Akuffo Addo made it publicly known the official reopening of schools, communicating His opinion that the condition is widespread for such move.
President Akuffo -Addo announced January 15th 2021 as an official date for the reopening of basic schools.
“we are satisfied that ,in the circumstance, it is safe to reopen school, so from 15th January2021,our children kindergarten , primary and junior high schools in both public and private schools will be back in school.
“All SHS 1 students will start class from 10th march 2021 and all the students embarking on the single track academic calendar, their seniors SHS 2 and SHS 3 will however return to school on 18th January 2021.
His Excellency hinted that, there will be no double track for the first year students in the second cycle.
” I must stress that, SHS 3 students in all schools, like SHS1 students, will no longer run the double track system. The expansion of infrastructure at the various senior high schools, over the last three years, has brought us to this favourable situation”
