The National Patriotic Party (NPP) has been officially declared as the Majority Members in Ghana’s Parliament by Speaker Alban Sumana Bagbin as the National Democratic Congress takes the Minority seat in Parliament.
Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin declare the National Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus Majority in Parliament on the chamber’s first sitting on Friday 15th Janauary,2021 after a letter submitted by the Independent Member of Parliament Lawyer Andrew Amoako Asiamah of Fomena constituency in the Ashanti Region that claims his willingness to join the Npp party.
The Speaker stated, “…you have the New Patriotic Party wing or caucus in Parliament together with the independent Member of Parliament from Fomena, and they now constitute the Majority group”.
He furthered that “whatever he said outside was of no effect so far as the business of the house is concerned, and therefore he had to do it officially for it to be read and captured in the Hansard”.
It has been therefore suggested that the declaration is going to create smooth and peaceful Parliament, hence dispute among the two parties as who take the Majority seat will be an end.
