The Deputy Chief fire officer of the Greater Regional Headquarters, James Emmanuel Quao has confirmed that, 303 fire outbreaks were recorded from the month of January to the month of May.
He said the figures compared to last year’s last reduced due to observance,education and the safety precautions ensured to Ghanaians by the fire officers.
Speaking to peace news at the international firefighters day celebrations which is celebrated every 4th of May across the world, James Emmanuel Quao attributed the reduction of fire outbreaks in the country to the intensification of public education and people’s understanding of the need to be careful with fires.
He cautioned Ghanaians to be careful when using lights at work , especially our homes and offices to prevent the fires that have become a frightfully constant feature in Ghana.
Regional fire safety officer at the Greater Accra Region, Divisional Officer 1, Evans Osei Owusu said the celebration of the international firefighters day celebrations is to remember those who lost their lives and urged all Ghanaians to be vigilant and not to take any detail for granted especially the use of Gas in our home’s and make sure we take of the regulators from the cylinders when we done cooking to avoid fire outbreaks.
