90% of Disasters are caused by weather related issues 

The Director General of Ghana Meteorological Agency,Dr.Michael Tanu has disclosed that 90% of disasters in the country are weather related issues.

According to him,despite scientific and technological advances which greatly contribute to improving weather forecasting, the accuracy and access to this information by local grassroots communities still remains a major challenge.

Speaking to media at the SWIFT TSB3 workshop on newscast and synoptic products in Accra, he said the government spends about 10 million dollars in Africa to ensure effective engagement of decisions made in the development of improved forecasting in the country.

The Provos of College of Science, Prof.Leonard Amekudzi spoke about the benefits of the SWIFT TSB3 workshop.
