POPULATION CENSUS TRAINER WAS SHOT IN HIS EYES,POLICE PROBE INVESTIGATIONS TO THE MATTER

The Police in the Central Region has started investigating into the shooting incident that occurred Saturday evening around 9:30 PM when a Population Census trainer and a Headteacher was shot in his car at his entrance when returning from the Population Census training exercise.

According to the Central Regional police deputy PRO Sgt.Evans Enttie said explained that the Police had information that a man has been shot in a house opposite the University of Cape Coast Medical School Hostel on the University campus near the Cape Coast Stadium.

Police proceeded to the scene, but the victim had been taken to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for treatment. Police proceeded to the hospital, but were told that victim was pronounced dead on arrival by the doctor.

The body was found lying at the mortuary with blood oozing from the left eye.

Body was examined and gunshot wound was found on the left eye. The body was deposited in the morgue pending further investigation.
Information gathered at the scene of crime by police indicated that the deceased Gorman Ayifah, in his 40s, is the Head Teacher at Ansapatu Basic School near Effutu in the Cape Coast Metropolist and also taking part in the 2021 Population Census training exercise and lives at the place of incident, that about 9:30 PM the deceased returned to his resident from the exercise in his BMW saloon car with registration number CR 811-W, but as soon as he stopped the car in front of his house, he was shot through the drivers side window of the car by an unknown assailant(s) and wounded him in the left eye Effort being made to arrest the suspect(s).

Investigation is ongoing according to the police and will make any effort to arrest the perpetrators and brought into book.
