A Consultant for National Food Storage Policy, Dr. Robert Aidoo has appealed to the government to build more warehouses across the country to prevent food shortage.
According to him, government is doing well in Agricultural sector such as planting for food and jobs, one village one dam, but the government has to do more to prevent food shortages.
Speaking at the one day workshop on food storage policy in Accra, Dr. Aidoo, a lecturer at KNUST, faculty of Agriculture suggests that, building more storage facilities in the country will help to hold the stocks for a very long period of time without contaminated.
Dr Robert Aidoo also suggested that, operations feed yourself in Acheampong regime should come back again to prevent food shortages.
According to him, Schools in the country should practice agriculture to produce their own food which will prevent food shortages.
Meanwhile, the Engineering Director for Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Amatus Deyang, also reiterates the government efforts to ensure food adequacy in Ghana.
He says, the government will continue to implement programmes and strategies to achieve the UN SDGs, particularly SDGs 2 which focuses explicitly on food by seeking to end hunger, improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.
