Dunkwa District Forestry Commission To Plant About 50,000 Trees By June

Mr. Maxwell Oteng Agyekum the District Manager of the Dunkwa District Forestry Commission in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality of the central region has said effective June 2021, a total of 50,000 trees will be planted across the District.

He said the initiative formed part of the Green Ghana Programme, which targeted 5,000,000 trees to be planted all over the country.

He told the media, when the commission engaged stakeholder meeting of the celebration of 2021 Green Ghana day, The 50,000 seedlings including Cedrella,Cassia,Vitsia Palm,Coconut, Oranges, Oframo,Emire,Mahogany, Teak and others would be distributed Municipal and District Assemblies, Schools, Traditional authorities, NGOs among others.

He further said, This is to make the exercise successful and ensure that every part of the District is covered.

He finally urging all to endeavor to take part in the activity when it finally gets started.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Upper Denkyira East, Hon. Isaac Awuah said, Trees are unique creation of Allah that played and important role in the existence of mankind and must therefore be properly taken care of.

He also said,Tree are an integral part of the ecosystem and human and other organisms depend on them for survive,

He finally call for protection of the country’s vegetation cover against destruction.

Meanwhile, Nana Kwame Kumah III Denkyira Maasehene Mbradan who spoke on behalf Denkyira Traditional Council called for active participation of all in the Green Ghana Programme to ensure it success.

Nana emphasized the importance of tree in providing mankind with oxygen,food as well as beautifying the environment and serving as windbreaks.
