HAVING DIABETES DOES NOT MEAN YOU WILL DIE EARLY BUT SEEK FOR MEDICAL HELP” – DR. YAKOBO ATEASE APPEALS TO GHANAIANS

Diabetologist and Head of the National Diabetes Management and Research Center at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr. Yakobo Atease has appealed to Ghanaians to seek for medical treatment when they contract diabetes.

According to her, although contracting diabetes among children doesn’t mean one will die early, seeking for its early treatment will save lives.

Dr. Yakobo Atease made this appeal at the launch of iCare to Defeat Diabetes Programme and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ministry of Health in Accra.

Under the MOU, the Ministry of Health, Ghana Health Service and Novo Nordisk, there will be programmes aimed at improving delivery of diabetes care to children and adolescents with type one diabetes.

Dr. Yakobo further threw much light on the programme in an interview with the press.
