Four individuals, including a local corn seller, were injured in a motor accident involving a Kia truck and a group of Okada riders at Asesewa Market.
The victims include Usiff Abubakar, 16; Nathaniel Atter, 21, Tetteh Nicholas, 35; and Oklekie Nyengor, 50.
In addition, 5 motorbicycles serving means of transport to some suburb villages of Asesewa were damaged beyond repairs, as the Kia truck accidentally ran into them.
The registration number of the vehicle according to it number plate is GS 6681-10.
The accident occurred when the truck, loaded with charcoal and travelling from Akateng through Asesewa to Odumase reportedly suffered brake failure and veered off course.
According to the truck driver, Isaac Teye, who had navigated several steep hills before reaching Asesewa, the brakes failed as he descended the old court road.
In an effort to prevent a more serious crash, he attempted to use a nearby wall to slow down but ultimately had to steer the truck toward the group of riders, avoiding a more severe collision with nearby shops.
The driver’s mate, who was also injured, was attempting to escape the truck when his uncle was hurt.
Eyewitnesses praised the driver for his quick decision, which they believe helped reduce the potential impact of the crash.
All injured individuals have been transported to Asesewa Government Hospital for medical treatment by the paramedics from the National Ambulance Service in the District.
