Bearing some few weeks to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential Flagbearership elections, indications are that the vice president, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia seems to be in the lead to sweep at least, 85 per cent of the total delegates in the Western North Region, says the Communications Director for the Region.
Mr. Addo Harry, who, made the claim in a radio interview with Trust FM on Wednesday noted that the Western North Region has a little over 2000 delegates warming up to take part in the November 4, 2023 Presidential Primary.
“Dr. Bawumia will win between 85 percent and 90 percent of the vote in the region though this projection is borne out observations and reactions from the delegates from the polling stations,” Harry said.
In a contest among four aspirants, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Akoto Owusu Afriyie and Ing. Addai Nimo are looking forward to lead the party into the 2024 presidential elections ahead of the current Vice President Dr. Bawumia.
While all the aspirants are going about the Western North Region doing their campaign to solicit for vote peacefully, the grass root and the regional leadership are warmly welcoming and listening to their messages to decide.
However, reactions suggest that the vice president would win the region in a resounding victory, following the submission made by the Communications Director, Mr. Harry Addo.
According to him, the digitalization drive initiative in the areas including drone services in the health care system, Ghana Card, mobile money interoperability, online renewal of National Health Insurance Card among others is increasing the popularity of Dr. Bawumia in the region.
Posing as a closest contender, Hon Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is popularizing himself with a health walks dubbed “Show Down Walk” across various constituencies and regions while campaigning vigorously to reinstate the party into glory days and also resource the grass root, if elected to contest for the high office.
Ing. Addai Nimo and Dr. Akoto Owusu Afriyie though campaigning according to their plans and strategies, their presence and influence seems to be on a slow side in my part of Ghana; Lower Manya Krobo, Yilo Krobo, Upper Manya Krobo and Asugyaman constituencies in the Eastern Region.
Over 200,000 delegates are expected to decide on one of four aspirants, who lead the NPP into the 2024 General Elections with high expectations to break the eight.
