The paramount chief for the people of Manya Krobo Traditional Area, who doubles as the President for the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs has launched an anniversary to mark his 25 years reign of enstoolment as chief for the area.
An organizing committee making up of personages including the clergy, traditionalist and the corporate community were also introduced and inaugurated at the forecourt of the Konor’s palace in Odumase on Monday, 24 April, 2023 to see to a successful silver jubilee celebration.
While the committee will be co-chaired between Dr. Nene Adjiso Teye III and Reverend Chris Baah Nartey of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, others are Manye Angmorkuor Yoko I, Jade German, Otsiame Tetteh Apionikomeja III and Peter Opata Nyarko.
Despite the day to day affairs duties, the committee is expected to raise funds and also invites guests and dignitaries for the program.
The anniversary was set to start from Friday, 12 May 2023, with a visit to mosques and churches by Nene Sakite II, the Konor and his entourage.
Though there will be several interesting event to mark the occasion, the grand durbar will be preceded by a book launch on the 22 and 26 May, 2023 respectively.
Stating among other things as achievements during his reign as chief, Nene Sakite II recounted the role he played to institute the Odumase Nursing and Midwifery Training College in 2015. In another health related development, the Konor noted and touted himself as the first Ghanaian who brought HIV/AIDs vaccine, Anti-Retroviral drug to Ghana, in the year 2002.

“The following year after my enstoolment, HIV/AIDs broke into Ghana, with high prevalence in the Krobo area, and also low knowledge among the populace,” Nene Sakite II said.
Stating further, “I empowered many queen mothers to submit award winning proposals, both in Ghana and America. Note that the Anti-retroviral drug which reduces the HIV viral load, I first brought it to Ghana before Okomfo Anokkye Teaching Hospital and Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital respectively received it.”
The Municipal Chief Executive for Lower Manya Krobo in his solidarity message called on citizens to support the Manya Krobo overlord to use his current chieftaincy role in the region to facilitate development for the Krobo enclave.
Referencing Kloma Gbi, a civil society organization in Odumase Krobo, Nene Sackite II was made chief in 1998 when he succeeded Oklemekuku Azu Mate-Kole, who was chief since 1939 and died in the 1990.
Another Krobo development advocacy group, Kloma Hengme, appealed His Majesty Nene Sakite II to use his prowess to lobby and champion more developmental projects for the Krobo area.
It also urged the organizing committee to do more publicity regarding the awaiting activities for the anniversary. In a statement suggesting the Konor has worked more than it is made known, Kloma Hengme advised the committee to use the 25 years anniversary celebration to highlight the achievements of the Konor to the public and subjects.
