Some students of the Asesewa Senior High School (ASEC) have been accused of using narcotics in the school which is against the Ghana Education Service rules and regulations.
For the conduct of amorous relationship among the female students and some opposite sex including peers, the headmaster, Mr. Paul Okoto noted that abortion of pregnancy is alarming among his students.
Mr Okoto revealed this in an interview on Trust FM’s Agoo Ghana show on Friday noting that, the most disciplinary issues facing the school currently is the weed smoking and termination of pregnancy amongst male and female students respectively.
“One other challenge apart from physical infrastructure has to do with students indiscipline. My boys are smoking ‘wee’ while the girls are fond of terminating of pregnancies.” he said.
Detailing the headmaster’s revelation, he said some students were caught and suspended for the said conducts.
“It was not proven scientifically. However, the culprits confirmed upon interrogation before the school’s disciplinary committee,” Mr. Okoto detailed.
The school administrator assessed his claim as being under control, stating that, “previously foetus’ (immature and malformed babies) are frequently found infront of our school gate, but now because we invite their parents anytime they are found misbehaving, the situation is under control.”
ASEC is an Agriculture Senior High school in the Upper Krobo District in the Eastern Region.
According to the Headmaster, the school has a population of about 2000 students, including boarders.
However, limited infrastructure including dinning hall is among the concerns the school currently faces.
“Times that all the three streams (form 1-3) are in session, eating at the dinning hall delays because the place is not big for our population,” Mr. Paul Okoto told Trust FM.
He appealed to the authorities including the GetFund to expedite action to complete the over 10 years abandoned Dinning Hall project for the school.
