Hon. Joseph Tetteh, a former MP for Upper Manya Krobo and New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate for the 2024 parliamentary election, has sharply slammed former President John Dramani Mahama’s recent comments, calling them both unfortunate and insulting to Ghanaians.
In an interview on Trust FM’s Constituency Watch, Hon. Tetteh accused Mr Mahama of showing disrespect toward Ghanaians and questioned his right to seek another term in office.
He suggested that Mahama’s remarks were as a result of arrogance, despite his rise through political ranks to the presidency.
He argued that the former president should apologize to Ghanaians and step down as the flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Further, the owner and Chief Executive Officer of Asesewa based Trust 98.3FM highlighted his achievements, such as providing clean drinking water, extending the national electricity grid, supporting women’s livelihoods, and assisting youth with educational expenses.
He emphasized that while MPs are responsible for making laws, they should also use their share of the District Common Fund to directly benefit their constituents.
Hon Joseph Tetteh pointed out that the incumbent MP, Hon. Bismark Tetteh, has completed his term and should now account for how the common fund was utilized.
JoeTee as popularly known among constituents stressed the importance of MPs being financially prepared to address constituent needs, even when there are delays in fund disbursement.
Recently, Mahama’s statement on social media, where he described Ghanaians as having “small minds” and suggested that anything could be said to win their votes, sparked controversy.
