A private teaching hospital, Kings and Queens Teaching Hospital (KQTH) has been honoured with two outstanding awards at the just ended Ghana Health Industry Summit Award (GHISA) in Accra.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital, Dr. Jerryson Ameworgbe Gidisu was adjudged the Most Outstanding CEO of the year 2022 for his excellent in innovation and management in healthcare delivery.
The facility beginning operation in June 2019, has delivered medical care for patients near and far.
For about two and a half years of existence, Kings and Queens Medical University College has been accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission ( GTEC) to train Medical Doctors and other Allied Health Professionals.
The Kings and Queens Medical University College is under the affiliation of University for Development Studies ( UDS) and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST)
On Friday evening at the Tang Palace Hotel in Accra, the Teaching Hospital ( KQTH )as well as the Kings and Queens Medical University College (KQMUC) was also awarded with the Most Outstanding Health Practice and Research Institution plaque for the year, 2022.
The award ceremony for 13 health facilities and individuals, sought to celebrate health practitioners and facilities who adopt innovative measures to enable Ghana to attain the universal health coverage target by 2030.
The event was held under the theme, “celebrating health for national development.”
Other awarded categories included best pharmacutical brand, best specialist and quality health care, health service provider, health care distributor of the year and health industry CEO of the year among others
Dr. Jerryson Ameworgbe Gidisu who won the Most Outstanding Health CEO told the media after the ceremony that, his award was dedicated to the late Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Abdul Rahman Aref, who died last year.
Eager to improve on medical research and modern trend in technology for health care, Dr. Jerryson assured that both his teaching hospital and the medical university was going to do more of advance research.
“I have come to see that in Ghana, more of our practices is more or less into just clinical care instead of Inclusive Medical Research. But KQTH and KQMUC as a new institution has now set up a new research center to do more advanced research,” Dr. Jerryson told the media.
The Kings and Queens Medical University College has currently opened admission, inviting students for academic medical programs including
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery ( MBChB), Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D), Doctor of Optometry ( OD), Bachelor of Science (BSC) General Nursing and BSc. Midwifery.
Kings and Queens Medical University College ( KQMUC) was accredited in 2021, making it the 3rd private medical university in Ghana.
The school has modern hostel facilities and also flexible fee payment schedules that allows student luxury of serenity for studies, without pressure.
The Medical University also pride itself by providing Either Partial of Full Scholarship for Brilliant and Brilliant But Needy Students.

This Year maiden GHISA awards was organized by The Travel Director Magazine to enhance network and build capacity on how to promote professionalism among practitioners.
