A former constituency chairperson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Lower Manya Krobo Constituency expressed dissatisfaction with his party’s stance on the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) selection of a parliamentary candidate.
David Walter Hormenu, formerly a presiding member of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal (LMKM) Assembly and currently serving as special aide to Member of Parliament Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, made these remarks during an interview on Trust FM’s Agoo Ghana Morning Show on Wednesday.
According to Walter, the NDC is not intimidated by Simon Kweku Tetteh, who also serves as the Municipal Chief Executive of the area.
He emphasized that the LMKM electorates have already decided and are not swayed by development projects undertaken by the MCE to support his candidacy. Walter accused the NPP government of strategically implementing numerous projects in the municipality to oust the incumbent MP.
The former assembly member declined to comment on the over four hundred employment opportunities promised by the MP to constituents, suggesting that the MP should address that matter directly.
It should be noted that the MP had pledged to establish an Aluminum Factory during his 2016 campaign, promising employment to over 400 unemployed individuals in the municipality. However, this initiative has been perceived as merely political rhetoric to gain electoral support.
Despite this, the MCE, who is also the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency, has been recognized as a prolific project manager, earning the nickname SIM1 due to his adeptness in project lobbying skills, initiation and implementation
