A Director of Communication for the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has verbally attacked a Morning Show host in the Eastern region, describing the host and his entire staff as devil.
Mr. Kwesi Lawer who called into a radio program on Monday morning during a phone-in session, accused program hosts of the radio station of disconnecting callers perceived as sympathizers of the NDC, when they (NDC callers) call to contribute to discussions of the station.
In what was suggesting to be a premeditated action, the NDC Constituency Communication Officer for Upper Manya Krobo, Mr. Kwesi Lawer attacked and used foul or unprinted words on the sit-in-host, Mr. Daniel Amanortey and the staff of Trust FM, alleging that he, as a mouth piece for the party in the area has not been giving opportunity to react to political subjects in the area.
This unfolded on Monday, 27 March, 2023 on Trust
“When there come an issue and NPP Communication officer is called for input, the NDC officer also deserve a chance to react, but when one is speaking against the NPP; he is disconnected,” Mr. Kwesi Lawer confronted the host.
In exchange of explanations, the host query, “when did you call-in and you were disconnected?” Listen to me first, Kwesi Lawer replied. In the moderation to guide the caller, the former Assembly Member for Anyoboni, Hon. Kwesi Lawer asked, “when did you invite me as NDC communication officer?”
Trust FM uses two desk top telecommunication phones for phone-in calls during radio programs simultaneously.
While Kwesi Lawer was connected by the producer on line 2, other callers were calling through the line 1 to contribute to the discussion.
But due to his long stay on the call, other calling attempt were dropping, making beeping sound.
Upon hearing one of the referenced beep sounds, Kwesi Lawer thought his line was disconnected. He, out of ‘bitterness’ fumed, saying, “you have cut the line, devils.”
But when he was contacted prior to filing of this story, the NDC Communication Officer indicated that he acted out of anger and frustration as a result of treatment meted out to him by the host.
Listeners who called into Agoo Ghana program on Tuesday morning have mounted pressure on the officer to apologize and retract for
the undeserving comment.
Asking Mr. Lawer on the sideline, he has accepted to apologize for his unfair comment.
