Trust 98.3FM, the sole radio station serving the Upper Manya Krobo District, was the target of an attack on Wednesday morning during a live broadcast of the popular morning show, “Agoo Ghana.”
A young man, identified only as Alinko, stormed the studios, disrupting the program with shouts and banging on the desk. Alinko claimed he had heard his name mentioned on the show in connection with recent attacks in the area and threatened further action against the show’s host, who also serves as the station’s Programs Manager.
While the exact nature of the alleged connection remains unclear, the show producers managed to remove Alinko from the premises, restoring calm, however, ending the broadcast abruptly.
The Asesewa Police Commander, DSP Francis, and other personnel stormed the premises of the station at Asasehene shortly after they sensed the attack from their office.
While an official complaint has been lodged at the Asesewa Police Station for investigation, dire hard listeners of the station trooped into the premises of the station, showing solidarity and vigilance to prevent future attack
The attack has raised concerns about the safety of journalists in the area.
