Odumase Krobo customers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), are frustrated after almost 48 hours of darkness, due to the service provider’s inability to supply prepaid credit.
Scenes from the District Office in Somanya suggest crowding of the place, leaving many stranded and frustrated.
A customer who spoke to trustfmonline.com on the account of anonymity said the Electricity Company of Ghana, Somanya District office has assured him, it will follow up to connect affected customers onto a direct power until the network situation is resolved.
“They said they were coming to connect us offline till we are able to get access to prepaid”
Speaking to the Tema Regional Public Relations Officer of the state company, ECG when contacted by Henkin Adjase, a journalist, Ms. Sekyewa texted saying; “we have had some challenge. It has however been resolved. But as there had been many customers waiting, it will take a while for the queues to clear.
Mr. Maxwell who is the commercial officer in charge of billing at the Somanya office of the ECG told Omanba Kodwo Boafo that “the network is down but will be resolved before the day is over for customers to be served.”
He revealed that his response was an assurance from his regional office, Tema.
On his part, the Acting Somanya District Manager Mr. Isaac Apau said, “we have a system challenge globally and as a result, our customers are unable to vend. Our IT team is still working on resolving the issue.”
“Meanwhile our technical team has been giving supply to customers who have run out and don’t have electricity supply since yesterday, the Manager said.
And we are still doing that until the issue is fully resolved,” the manager responded when asked on a public platform hosting opinion leadership of the Krobo area.
An eye witness and customer noted that the officials of the ECG have come to write the details including metre numbers, contact numbers locations and names of all the customers present in the premises of the office.
