Having started in 2016 amidst several political controversies, the Ministry of Health (MoH) has approved raising the Odumase Midwifery and Nursing Training College to a diploma-awarding institution, says the Partnership Development Association (PDA) Chairman of the school, Mr Samuel Akor, in an interview with Trust 98.3FM on Wednesday.
The PDA is an association of parents, teachers and management of the health training school in the Lower Manya Krobo District in the Eastern Region.
Since its inception, the school has been noted for running certificate programs in Health Care Assistant (HAC), otherwise known as Community Health Nurse.
Mr Akor also noted that plans were far advanced to situate a satellite and affiliate campus in the Upper Manya Krobo District to continue training Community Health Nurse enthusiasts.
He stressed that Upper Manya Krobo has come of age to get a college, thus the need to upgrade the Odumase school to a diploma level so that it will pave the way for certificate courses for the school marked for the Upper Manya Krobo area.
According to him, all paperwork is underway to ensure the district gets a school to facilitate the acquisition of higher education for citizens in and around the district.
Emphasizing this, Mr Akor said, “The affiliate campus’ coming is dependent on the upgrading of the main campus in Odumase to diploma status,” adding that all the necessary arrangements, including infrastructure, are on the verge of being secured.
