Residents of Tenglekope, a town in the Afram Plains North live in fear as an unidentified creature suspected to be a hippopotamus hover around the area destroying farms and fishing nets set by fishermen in the area along the Volta Lake.
During an eyewitness account on Trust FMs Midday News on Tuesday, a resident, who gave his name as Anyasorsorwutuo popularly known as Otromador recounted that, residents woke up one day to see foot prints as big as the size of about five adult palms printed all over the banks of the lake along the plains.
According to the resident cum eyewitness, he got reports that a strange creature emerged from nowhere and was seen wallowing the river, thereby destroying nets set by fishermen; adding that, some other residents said they saw the animal that looked like a hippopotamus.
He said none of his neighbors has been able to describe fully, the nature of the said animal but he could deduce that it looked like a Hippopotamus.
“The animal usually comes out in the night to eat and through that destroys our farms and our nets that we have set to trap fishes” Otromador noted.
He appealed to authorities to come to their aid to either capture the animal or get it killed before it endanger lives in the area because women and children also engage in activities along the river banks.
