The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Yilo Krobo on Monday handed over the new three classroom block at Obawale to authorities for use following pressures from Asesewa’s Trust FM and some leaders of both the school and the community.
The MCE, Mr. Eric Tetteh in a brief noted that he had to do the handing over due to anticipated hazardous weather conditions that may put pupils at risk using what many have descried as a death trap, according to the Social Services subcommittee chairperson.
“The MCE, Yesterday morning, handed over the newly constructed Obawale Primary school to the school authorities for use even though there were some reported repair work to be done but due to the early signs of the weather pointed to the fact that the school children should not be put under danger.” Mr. Isaac Amanor said in a text.
This follows a week of pressure that was mounted by Trust FM’s Agoo Morning Show team on the political icon to hand over the classroom block for fears that pupils may be endangered in the dilapidated uncompleted building which housed three different classes plus the general office and the headteachers office.
During Trust FM’s visit, the team noted that some teachers including the headteacher work under tress which could be stressful as they described.
It will be recalled that a story as posted on www.trustfmonline.com bemoaned the dangers that hover around the said uncompleted yet dilapidated structure that is used as a classroom block that houses tens of children who go there everyday to study.
